mariko tsuchiyama Trunk Show

Starting Friday, March 7, ARTS&SCIENCE Marunouchi will host a trunk show featuring the jewelry brand mariko tsuchiyama. Alongside special rings and bracelets featuring rare South Sea baroque pearls, the event will also mark the debut of new creations designed exclusively for this occasion.

Event details

Based in the coastal town of Brighton, UK, mariko tsuchiyama creates jewelry with meticulous handcraftsmanship, using pearls cultivated through traditional Japanese pearl farming. Inspired by the pure textures and sensations of nature, as well as the sweeping coastline stretching beyond the studio, the brand crafts one-of-a-kind pieces featuring irregular, non-spherical baroque pearls. We invite you to see them in person at our shop.

MESSAGE

“In the workshop where I spend countless hours each day, I find myself cherishing even the irregularly melted forms of metal, thinking, ‘The fire is especially well-balanced today.’ On days when soft light filters in, I sometimes pause, mesmerized by the luminous glow of pearls. Though my work follows the same routines, each day brings new discoveries.

Marunouchi is a place where historic buildings and tree-lined streets maintain a timeless charm, while people from all walks of life pass through, giving the area a dynamic, ever-changing feel. Nestled in the heart of this vibrant district, the Marunouchi store offers a sense of tranquility and comfort, and I can’t help but imagine the kind of connections my jewelry will create there.

This time, in addition to the latest collection inspired by dancers, we will be unveiling new jewelry. Among the highlights are rings featuring icicle-shaped pearls cultivated in my hometown of Nagasaki, as well as pearl necklaces and bracelets that float lightly, like frills. The half-moon-shaped pearls, with their mystical, soft glow, are especially dear to me.

Every day, I find myself influenced by the natural presence I observe in Brighton and the sensations that reside within it. The unmistakable presence of the moon and sun just before they vanish behind clouds, and the subtle traces of life that fade after a creature burns with energy. Seeking to capture the beauty of these fleeting, melting moments of nature, I used metal to shape the temperature, presence, and texture I felt. I look forward to these pieces encountering new stories at ARTS&SCIENCE.”
