about Jamdani weaving
The art of Jamdani weaving has been handed down for over centuries. It is similar to the Japanese technique of nuito-ori* and textiles made from this technique. Jamdanis are mostly famous for sarees in cotton.
Jamdanis are light and sheer, with delicate motifs woven all over the textile. The process of creating a Jamdani textile is long and demanding for it requires meticulous needlework to weave each piece. At A&S, we looked into archival patterns for our inspiration to recreate new arrangements.
Each piece has a hand-stitched detail to emphasize the finesse of the Jamdani textile. The dress and the blouse are available in two different stitches: black or white.
*Nuito-ori is a Japanese weaving technique where you place only the weft on the place where you want to create the pattern.
