A&S 2023SS “Silk Seersucker”

This “silk seersucker” is woven by using two types of scouring-dyed raw silk yarns of different thicknesses in the warp and bulky ultra-fine spun silk yarns in the weft yarn. Scour dyeing is a process that removes sericin, a hard protein contained in cocoon yarns, before dyeing the fabric. By weaving these two types of scour-dyed raw yarns with different tensions on a double-beam loom, the fabric is finished with a stripe-like unevenness. There are less and less number of double-beam looms capable of weaving this density and the number of craftsmen capable of weaving at this level of craftmanship. This 100% silk seersucker is made by the most traditional, time-consuming production method, and thus, very valuable.
