MOONSTAR for ARTS&SCIENCE
MOONSTAR, the long-established footwear manufacturer founded in 1873, and ARTS&SCIENCE have created collaborative shoes. The models bring together “MADE IN KURUME” craftsmanship, handed down at the Kurume factory, with A&S’s original fabric. Available from Friday, April 24 at A&S stores and via the ONLINE SELLER.
MOONSTAR is a Japanese brand based in Kurume City, Fukuoka, a town that flourished as a center of the rubber industry. For over 150 years, it has supported people’s everyday lives through its shoemaking. Guided by the belief that a shoe’s value comes from being worn and lived in, the techniques and know-how accumulated since its founding continue to support its craft. The brand is also committed to environmentally conscious initiatives, with a focus on sustainable shoemaking.
The shoes created in this collaboration with A&S are based on standard models from MOONSTAR’s FINE VULCANIZED series. They bring together the “MADE IN KURUME” manufacturing process, handed down at the Kurume factory, with A&S’s original fabric. The rubber has also been developed in colors that match the fabric.
The base models are the “Low basket,” a simple design often considered the archetype of the sneaker, and the classic “Lite ballet,” featuring triangular elastic at the instep. Both styles feature A&S’s original fabric, Voile cotton duck peach washer. Woven from thick cotton double yarn, the duck cloth is finished with a lightly brushed surface and a washer treatment, giving it a soft feel and a subtle, gently faded look. It comes in three colors, and this fabric is also used in select pieces from A&S’s 2026SS collection.
