Collaboration Project 2021AW “Toogood × A&S”

The fabrics from the Arts & Science’s original collection is developed from scratch every season. We are collaborating with designers to make new styles and expressions with our special A&S archive fabrics. This season, we will be presenting collaborative styles of clothing from ＜Toogood＞ in October and ＜by H.＞ in November.

This time, we feature our project with ＜Toogood＞, a London-based brand that combines Faye Toogood’s talents as a designer of furniture, interiors, and sculptures with Erica Toogood’s craftsmanship as a tailor and pattern cutter. We have selected together to make classic styles from Toogood, including The Photographer Jacket, The Doorman Jacket, and The Acrobat Trouser. As we have a limited supply of our archive fabrics, each style is made in limited quantities.

Cashmere Nep Herringbone

A homespun-like hand-pongee look that is spun while excluding large neps. A heavy two-color herringbone with a thick count, where the finish is only washed and dried which keeps the quality of the thread at its best. Chosen fabric for The Photographer Jacket and The Doorman Jacket.

Cashmere Double Face

Double-faced fabric with cashmere top yarn. One side is a chambray herringbone pattern and the other is finished in a beaver-like finish. Although the fabric is double, we have careful attention to create the fabric very light and soft, in an elegant look. Chosen fabric for The Photographer Jacket and The Acrobat Trouser.

Cashmere Nep Tweed Light

A cashmere nep plain woven tweed, made using a custom-made 100% cashmere thick-count woolen top yarn for all directions. The neps are made by an old-fashioned method of making two sizes by hand during spinning, resulting in a hand-spun feel. Chosen fabric for The Acrobat Trouser.

Profile

Toogood is a London-based design studio established in 2008 by Faye Toogood. Her practice encompasses interior design, homewares, fine art and fashion. The Toogood fashion collection was co-founded by Faye and her sister Erica Toogood in 2013. Together they create clothes that are both practical and sculptural for men and women of all ages. The clothing is instilled with the unmistakable spirit of both sisters: Faye’s preoccupation with materiality and Erica’s audacious shape-making. At ARTS & SCIENCE we have collaborated with Toogood on installations in our stores, and every season we present their new collections.
