DOWN THE STAIRS | “Bento” (take-out) Service

From Tuesday, September 1st, 2020 DOWN THE STAIRS will begin a “bento” (take-out) service. <Bento for DOWN THE STAIRS>
All menus are different every day as the bentos are also made for all of our ARTS&SCIENCE staff. The main dish consists of fish or meat, accompanied by three types of side dishes, mainly vegetables. We strive to use ingredients as natural as possible such as seasonal vegetables, fish that is wild-caught, meat that is made without medicine, and carefully curated seasonings. Similar to the idea of how our clothes come into contact with the skin, we want people to eat our foods that are easy on the body, safe, and delicious. We present to you a bento born from the ideology of ARTS&SCIENCE.

    Yaser Shaw “Delivery Information”

Yaser Shaw’s collection of hand spun, hand woven and hand stitched pashmina stoles made from traditional techniques of Kashmir - region of the northwestern Indian subcontinent - will be available at A&S Aoyama and several other A&S stores from Saturday, February 15th.

The original pashmina material is extremely delicate and cannot withstand the pressure caused by machines. By carefully spinning and weaving these materials, they eventually acquire a natural texture which creates an exquisite drape and softness once you put them on. Also, the key to Shaw’s diverse design lies in the meticulous embroidery which is sought after not only by women but also by men. Sophisticated patterns are exquisitely created without adding any stress on the material.

Please come and select your favorite piece among our collection which we handpicked in India. We look forward to your visit.

    Masao Kozumi “Glass Onggi”

From Friday April 12th to Sunday April 21st, AT THE CORNER will be hosting our very first solo-exhibition of the glass artist, Masao Kozumi.

Kozumi uses a traditional method dating from the Edo period (between 17th and 19th century) as his model for the creation process. His works evoke a unique green color and a fluctuation due to iron in the glass material. The greatest emphasis which Kozumi puts on his work is that they should be Japanese glasses which match the Japanese table which focus on the “preparation”. In this exhibition where Kozumi’s elegant works with antique allure come together, we will also focus on his new “Glass Onggi” which feature glass vessels glazed in pale colors. We look forward to seeing you there.
