YALI Glass “POETRY OF LIGHT”

We are pleased to present the fourth exhibition by Italian glass studio YALI glass, their first in three years. This edition will feature a collection of works centered on transparency and white. The exhibition will open at HIN Aoyama in Tokyo, before traveling to ARTS&SCIENCE Aneyakoji Kyoto.

Event details

Under the theme “POETRY OF LIGHT,” the exhibition introduces works that evoke the subtle fluctuations of light and a quiet sense of presence through traditional Murano techniques such as Filigrana, Reticello, and Bullicante, passed down through generations on the island of Murano. Centered on transparency and white, the collection reflects the distinctive world of YALI glass, which marks its 10th year at A&S this year.

MESSAGE

“Venice is YALI’s home. Here we live surrounded by seawater with ever-changing, lively reflections.

Glass, like water, plays with light, reflecting and diffusing light. We chose glass as a material to create objects – glass is light to hold, silky to touch and its transparency brings brightness and joy to our daily lives.

At YALI we are driven by the pursuit of marrying function and harmonious beauty, making drinking glasses, carafes, plates, trays, vases and tables.

For POETRY OF LIGHT we created collections of clear glass using traditional techniques like Filigrana, Reticello and Bullicante, which go back to the 18th century. These are being shown for the first time at HIN, Tokyo. This particularly calm and serene space has been very inspiring, and we feel honored to show our handcrafted Murano glass here.”
