The brand William Oweson Förlag, recently launched in 2023. The entire creation of the collection is almost entirely handled by designer William Oweson, from pattern making to sewing samples and manufacturing his own showroom furniture. His unique perspective reflects his philosophy and aesthetic sensibility. The brand name Förlag means ‘publication’ in Swedish and reflects the idea of a comprehensive publishing business that edits and presents diverse productions, which he describes as philosophers, writers, poets and figurative painters.
William Oweson Förlag’s concept is to offer comfort without restriction. The collection designs are timeless and does not follow trends of the fashion seasons. The clothes are made with a draped, flat pattern that is comfortable to wear, in line with the way the body moves and behaves. Attention is paid to details for instance, how the fabrics fall and his commitment to using only fibers of natural origin.
The 2024SS collection will be launched for the first time in Japan and will be presented at the &SHOP in Aoyama and Kyoto. Please come and visit us for this special introduction.
PROFILE
Born in 1997 in Stockholm, Sweden, and brought up in Lausanne, Switzerland, William Oweson is a philosopher, writer, poet, figurative painter and clothes-maker whose work sees itself founded upon late stoic philosophy, yet further refined into a form of courtly detachment, tending towards the creation of an existential aesthetic system. Having studied at the École de la Chambre Syndical de la Couture Parisienne, graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2022 with a Bachelor in Fine Art, he currently resides and bases his creative activity in Tokyo, Japan.
