Perspective
This series captures the fascinating idea that even the same object or shape can appear completely different depending on the angle or perspective from which it’s viewed. For example, by considering the shape of a standard ring or ear cuff, which has a perpendicular surface to a flat plane, as viewed from 0 degrees, and then viewing it from another angle, the same object can leave a completely different impression.
Spectrum
This series is inspired by the elements, wavelengths, and composition of light, and simply expresses the components of light as separated by a prism, along with their collective form. In addition to single geometric shapes, there are also designs that combine three different shapes, incorporating a variety of colors—such as platinum, 18k yellow gold, pink gold, and green gold—into a single earring.
*The term “spectrum” refers to the process of breaking down complex information or signals into their components and arranging them according to their magnitude.
Particles
This series is inspired by the particles that make up matter—so small that they are typically imperceptible on their own. Yet, when gathered together, they form shapes, colors, and the overall presence of an object. While each individual piece is extremely small, it is lavishly crafted using numerous original components, resulting in a sparkling, dazzling effect when worn.
Four Seasons
This series expresses the four seasons of Japan through the colors of metal. Spring captures the fresh green of new buds and the blue sky seen beyond the cherry blossoms. Summer evokes the intense sunlight, the air, and the expansive sky. Autumn is represented by the subtle gradations of color found in beautiful fall foliage. Winter brings warmth amidst the cold. Each season’s image is delicately expressed through the careful blending of metals.
PROFILE
“Pfütze” means “puddle” in German. The duo of Yasushi Kita and Ayako Kaku handle every step of the process, from design to production. Drawing inspiration from natural objects and phenomena found in everyday life, they use these as motifs in their work. With a focus on appreciating the natural colors of metals, they avoid using stones, such as gemstones, and instead opt for materials like 18k gold, platinum 900, and silver 925.
