Studio Henry Wilson

HIN Aoyama presents an exhibition by Australian product designer Henry Wilson, marking his first solo exhibition in Japan.

Event details

At the core of Sydney-based designer Henry Wilson’s creative approach lies a fundamental question: “How long can a product last, and can it be reused?” In his work, he constantly asks himself whether combining various materials might make recycling difficult, giving equal importance to the composition of materials as to the finished piece. Even when several materials are combined, the cast object ultimately resolves into a single material, which can later be transformed into something new at a refining facility. With this principle of circularity at the heart of his practice, Wilson affirms, “I do not design according to trends.”

The exhibition will showcase a range of works, from Wilson’s signature interior accessories to lighting and kitchenware in various sizes. While large pieces are generally made to order, select items will also be available for immediate purchase in the store. In addition, his latest creations, Wall Relief and Oil Diffuser, will be unveiled for the first time.

The philosophy of creating “timeless pieces, free from the constraints of trends” aligns closely with A&S’s ethos. We invite you to explore these works in person at HIN Aoyama.

PROFILE

Studio Henry Wilson was founded in Sydney in 2012. Working with materials such as brass, stone, aluminum, and glass, the studio creates furniture, lighting, objects, and accessories. Guided by the belief that “objects that endure are beautiful,” their designs balance practicality with the inherent beauty of the materials. Based in their Sydney studio, they collaborate with craftspeople both locally and abroad—from local foundries producing bronze and aluminum castings to European stonemasons. The studio is especially known for projects such as store designs for the Australian skincare brand Aesop and the brass oil burner. Their refined forms are highly regarded internationally.
