He earned his degree in oil painting at Musashino Art University and later continued to produce two-dimensional works while studying welding at a vocational training school and working in an iron foundry. In 2005, he set up his own foundry in Minakami, Gunma Prefecture, where he creates cookware and tableware from wrought iron and steel.
