Narita\u2019s works are created through repeated hammering of metal, resulting in pieces that combine dependable functionality for everyday life with the rich, expressive qualities unique to metalwork.<\/p>\n

\u201cPerhaps because I usually prefer small tableware, I am also drawn to smaller frying pans.
\nFor the past few years, I have been exploring a new form for a small frying pan \u2014 one that feels familiar at first glance, yet offers something fresh, and is light enough to reach for effortlessly in use. The shape that existed only vaguely in my mind has finally taken a tangible form.<\/p>\n

For this exhibition, I have focused on tools for use on the table as a central theme. Centering on direct-fire iron cookware, stainless-steel tableware, and cutlery, I have assembled a variety of pieces for you to explore.<\/p>\n

Takayoshi Narita was born in Hakodate, Hokkaido, in 1969. He graduated from the oil painting department at Musashino Art University and later withdrew from the university\u2019s graduate program. He continued working in two dimensions before studying welding at a vocational training school and working at an ironworks. Alongside this, he established his own studio and began creating works in iron.
