This year , which is the English edition of “Hobonichi Techo”, marks its 7th anniversary. The English edition, which retains the usefulness of the Japanese edition, was born in 2013 after 2 years of development with Sonya Park, the director of A&S.

The surface of the matted clothbound cover is adorned with embossed gold characters “手帳 (meaning planner in Japanese)” for an elegant and stylish allure. The planner which is loved by many can be enjoyed regardless of the user’s nationalities.

Common attributes to the Japanese edition

Japanese paper back size in page-per-day format. / English translation of “Hibi no Kotoba (daily quotes)”. / Use of “Tomoe River” paper, known as the perfect match for planners. / Made from sewn binding to allow a fully flat opening.

Extra section

At the end of the planner, we have a section for extra information featuring different cultural themes in Japan and abroad.

Dot notes: 2019 version will have 12 pages of graph paper where you can freely jot down your ideas and drawings.

List of important contacts: From the most frequently used or emergency contacts, this section allows you to note your 7 most important contact information.

Size chart: A list of clothes, shoes, hats and ring sizes to facilitate the comparison between different measurements in Japan, US, UK and EU.

Unit conversion chart: A conversion chart of common units used in Japan and overseas. The page also features a ruler in inch and cm.

Japanese traditional tools for the everyday life: Chopsticks, earthen pots, tenugui (towel), furoshiki (wrapping cloth) and brooms… This section introduces you to the universe of traditional Japanese tools.

About the Oriental zodiacs: A section featuring the Japanese 12 zodiacs with information about nengajo (New Year’s greeting card), ema (wooden plaque) and the Japanese culture.

Traditional sweets of the world: From Japanese manju (steamed sweet bun) through Portuguese egg tarts to Brazilian brigadeiro and Filipino halo-halo, the section sheds light on long loved sweets from around the world.

List of country codes and country calling codes: A list featuring country codes consisting of 2 alphabets and calling codes which come in handy upon making international phone calls. For Japan, the country code is “JP” and the calling code is “81”.

List of international holidays: The planner compiled national holiday information from 30 different countries for users coming from various backgrounds. The list will be useful upon travelling as well.

Personal Notes: A page where you can put all your personal information such as name, birthday, address and phone numbers. Please be careful upon writing confidential or information which needs to be handled with care.


Planner Cover

The new version of the planner cover which perfectly goes well with the Hobonichi Techo Planner will also be available in 4 colors at A&S stores. The planner cover is made from fine grained baby calf leather with an exquisite softness. The matted texture will comfortably fit your hands to allow a unique aging process with the passing of time. The inside will come with a folded bottom pocket with zipper openings and 4 card slots. There will be a large flat pocket on the outside. The zipper pockets will be useful upon storing coins and small stationaries such as paperclips and sticky notes.

<Personalization Service> is available to all customers who purchased the planner cover at ARTS&SCIENCE stores. The service allows you to have your initial (or any other letters) stamped or embossed in gold.
