Hobonichi Techo Planner 2022
The 2022 version of ＜Hobonichi Techo Planner＞ will be released on Wednesday, September 1st 2021 at our standing shops, and on Friday, September 3rd on our A&S official online Pop-up Shop.
This year marks the Hobonichi Techo Planner’s 10th year anniversary.
The Hobonichi Techo Planner is the English version of the “Hobonichi Techo.” It was realized by Sonya Park, the director of Arts & Science, in 2013 after two years of development, and it inherits the qualities of the original Japanese version.
The surface of the matte clothbound cover is adorned with the embossed gold characters “手帳” (meaning planner in Japanese) for an elegant and stylish allure. The planner, which is loved by many, can be enjoyed regardless of the user’s nationality.
Common attributes to the Japanese edition
Japanese paperback size in page-per-day format / English translation of “Hibi no Kotoba” (daily quotes) / Use of “Tomoe River” paper, known as the perfect match for planners / Made from sewn binding to allow a fully flat opening
Extra section
At the end of the planner, we have a section with extra information featuring different cultural themes from Japan and abroad.

Arts & Science Original Planner Cover
We are pleased to announce the annual release of the Hobonichi Techo Planner Covers exclusive to A&S. The 2022 version features our original key emblem logo that is specially embossed, a first for A&S.
A&S shops will offer two basic colors - black and brown leather. The simple, compact design fits easily in a small bag for portability. A pocket is provided on the inner back cover to hold free notes of paper, as functionality is at the fore in this minimalistic manner. The pen holder is designed to be fastened with a pen clip.
The Italian tannin kip raw leather is dyed and then hand-finished individually with an antique finish to give it an organic, natural look. By wiping with a dry cloth regularly, you can enjoy its aging process to a glossier texture.
For customers who purchase a Hobonichi Techo cover at one of our A&S standing shops, we recommend including our ＜Personalization Service＞, where you may order and engrave your favorite initials with bare or foil stamps.

Hobonichi Store Limited Planner Cover
We have prepared our annual Planner Cover for the Hobonichi Store.
The leather used this time is a limpid leather, which is known for its vivid show of colors. The colorful and transparent expression is made by “white tanning.” As the name implies, white tanning is a method of tanning in white, but layering the dyes results in a natural leather that has both durability and flexibility. An A&S large key emblem is embossed for this year’s special bold look.
Hobonichi Store Limited Planner Covers will be available at TOBICHI (managed by Hobonichi Itoi Shimbun/Hobonichi) from Wednesday Sept.1st, and Hobonichi Store from Friday, Sept.3rd. For details, please refer here ＜Light blue／Khaki beige＞.
