A&S 2022AW Botanical Dyes August
The fabric count, structure, expression, and textures are all incorporated in the meaning of our production. The fabric development of Arts & Science original fabrics is the core of A&S craftsmanship, taking many aspects and shaping them according to the seasonal image. There is always a reason and background behind the creation of each fabric, featuring the specialties of each production partner, craftsman, and area of development. In this project, we will focus on monthly fabric expressions from the 2022AW collection and introduce key pieces from these collections.
In this feature, will introduce the color expression by fabrics of botanical dyes of the month, extracted by dyes unique to the beautiful colors of the original plants. Botanical dyes are special dyes that extracts dyes from various elements of the plant (flowers, leaves, roots, stems, trees, skins, fruits, etc.) and the process is done without using mordants. Even in the process of expressing a single color, the appearance of the color differs depending on the raw material, ratio of the plant mix, count of threads, specific structures and more of the fabric to be dyed.

The peach is a deciduous small tree with a height of 2 to 3 m that blooms dark pink flowers. Back in the day, the leaves and seeds have been commonly used in Chinese medicine, known to be effective for gynecological diseases. The symbol of the peach tree has a reputation of a sacred tree, believed to have the power to exorcise evil since ancient times.
