All kinds of polar bear will be showcased in &SHOP Aoyama, and “Wabisuke”, series of animals sitting on zabuton, a Japanese cushion shall line HIN / Arts & Science, Nijodori Kyoto. To celebrate the coming New Year, HIN / Arts & Science, Nijodori Kyoto and OVER THE COUNTER welcomes the florist, Mitate for an exclusive order event of New Year ornaments. New Year ornaments has been traditionally used to welcome the Shinto deities who are believed to come visit us at the beginning of the New Year. Ranging from modern kadomatsu to Japanese cypress ornaments made in collaboration with the wood artist Masaru Kawai, Mitate’s works are traditional yet stylish and contemporary. During the event, we will also take orders for waramochi, exclusive only at A&S during this period. Please do not miss this occasion to create your original ornaments of the season.

ARTS&SCIENCE in collaboration with TOOGOOD will hold a new installation, THE FORAGER, taking place in both Tokyo and Kyoto.
THE FORAGER is inspired by the busy traveler an avid collector of beautiful foreign objects. The Forager Suit consisting of gilet, tunic and trousers, new and exclusive TOOGOOD shapes realized in ARTS&SCIENCE fabrics.
Inspired by 16th century Edo-period screens, Faye Toogood’s wallpaper collection for CALICO WALLPAPER transforms the gallery space into an English Landscape, accompanied by Faye’s Roly-Poly furniture and a collection of British found objects.
For the opening of Tokyo, designer Erica Toogood will be available as well. Please come and enjoy the world of TOOGOOD.

It is our pleasure to announce the exhibition “Nanako” by painter, calligrapher, and potter Kenichi Takanaka. “Nanako” is the artist’s second exhibition at ARTS&SCIENCE and it will be presented in both Tokyo and Kyoto.

“Nanako” is a method of creating a relief pattern that resembles fish roe. The craftsman is said to “beat” or “sow” the texture into a surface using a special Nanako chisel. The exhibition will showcase 100 works that Kenichi Takanaka has created around the theme of soil, accompanied by a hanging calligraphic scroll.

The popular MOON CALENDAR will be available. Three colors of sky, pale-blue green, and indigo which cannot be ordered regularly, are available for the order, and beside that you can order a frame exclusively for the calendar.

For this event, we have prepared an ARTS&SCIENCE original tote bag, pouch, handkerchief, and work coat in white color, and you will be able to order and arrange them out of three color option, sky, pale-blue green, and indigo.

The furniture order event by a collaboration between woodcraft artist Masashi Ifuji and ARTS&SCIENCE will be held in Tokyo and Kyoto. Different size of collapsible shelf, and brand new piece of mizuya drawer will be at your hand. In addition to that, the bespoke color will be available for his basic lines. The simple metal fittings used for each items in various parts are produced by the ＜Kanaguya＞. Please join us and find your own carefully made furniture that will be there for you in your everyday lives.

dosa is a company built on the use of traditional crafts and handwork found through the travels of Christina Kim. Please join us for “Beni Pink”, her exploration of vibrant pinks and the tradition of benibana dyeing at AT THE CORNER. This event will feature shawls and items from dosa’s standard issue line dyed benibana pink at a workshop led by master craftsman and third generation dyer, Dr. Kazuki Yamazaki. Also on display will be “We Kiss”, a public art project by artist Kathy Klein, who collaborated with dosa to produce shawls based on her work. dosa’s installation shares the tradition of benibana dyeing as well as Christina’s designs.
